A split ring loop is an alternative to using a jumpring for jewelry-making connections. Expert jewelry maker and instructor Tammy Honaman demonstrates the steps to make a split ring loop on a headpin.

: : : Materials : : :

STEP 1
String the desired bead onto a headpin or length of wire with a loop or wrapped loop on the end.
STEP 2
Trim the straight end of the wire to approximately one inch.

Grasp the end of the wire in a pair of round-nose pliers. Rotate the pliers forming a hook. Connect the hook to your finding or component.
STEP 3
To secure the drop to the component, reinsert the pliers and continue to rotate forming the hook into a loop. Continue to rotate the pliers forming a second loop next to the previous, creating a connector that looks like a split ring.
