STEP 1
Cut a 5-inch length of wire.

Tip: You can cut a shorter or longer length of wire to create a smaller or larger spiral hook to suit the scale of the design you are making. Adjust the dimensions of the other parts of the hook design accordingly, i.e. create a larger spiral and use a larger diameter barrel when forming the hook.
STEP 2
Form a spiral on one end of the wire using approximately 1-1/2 inches of the wire.
STEP 3
Using the tip of the round-nose pliers, form a simple loop in the opposite direction of the spiral for a decorative and professional look.
STEP 4
Place the round-nose pliers, wire-wrapping pliers or the wire-wrapping mandrel on the wire, about 3/4 to 1-inch from the top of spiral. Bend the wire around the largest section of the barrel on the round-nose pliers or around the 6mm section on the wire-wrapping pliers or mandrel to form the hook.

Tip: You can make the hook larger or smaller depending on the scale of your jewelry design.
