Meet the Designer-Artist

Where do you live?
Corona, California.

Describe your artistic style.
Funky and bold, intricate wire jewelry.

What inspires you as a designer-artist?
Everything and anything! It can be as simple as a song, a color, something I saw or heard, or more complicated like a feeling, a sensation, and the mood I'm in.

What materials do you most enjoy working with?
My favorite material is wire! I like mixing the industrial feel and look of wire with the beauty and softness of pearls or gemstone.

What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
Ourania Necklace

What inspired this design?
I wanted to create something really intricate and bold as well as beautiful and peaceful. Ourania means ''heavenly'' in Greek.

How did it come together?
I first twisted all the wire pieces and then put them on a table (like a puzzle), rearranging the pieces until I had the right combination. I then assembled all the wire pieces and let my inspiration guide me for the gemstones and the wire-wrapping.

Share Your Background:

When and how did you begin making jewelry/beading?
As a kid I would try everything artsy and crafty. My favorite hobby at the time was to create beaded necklaces for my mom. This was my first experience with jewelry-making.

Who introduced you to beading?
A few years ago a lot of friends and family members were into beading so I decided to give it a try.

Do you have an artistic background?
My dad is a photographer, so growing up, creativity was always surrounding me. As far as I can remember I've always wanted to be able to create things and make a living from my creations. I studied arts in France and used to work in the jewelry business.

How did you discover Fire Mountain Gems and BeadsĀ®?
I discovered Fire Mountain Gems and Beads while browsing the internet for jewelry-making supplies.

What other hobbies do you enjoy?
Photography, web design, drawing, gaming.

Beading Success!

What role does jewelry-making play in your life?
Jewelry-making is a full-time career. I started my own jewelry business; Cornelia Creations LLC and work every day to maintain and promote it. Being able to earn money from my creations is a dream I work hard on fulfilling.

If you use jewelry-making as a way to bring in income, how are you selling yourself and your jewelry?
I sell my jewelry on my website: www.cornelia-creations.com and do consignment in a few stores. Most of the time I promote online and contact store owners and gallery owners myself to offer them to sell my jewelry.

Do you participate in any charity fundraisers?
Not at the moment.

Any advice for aspiring jewelry-artists?
It's important to never give up and always believe in yourself. Be open to everything that surrounds you; people, nature, fashion, etc. It's a good way to always renew your creativity!
