Meet the Designer-Artist

Where do you live?
In Belgium.

Describe your artistic style.
When working with metals I like the contemporary style with simple lines, but with character. When working with gemstones the style can be from classic to very modern, it depends on what I'm making.

What inspires you as a designer-artist?
I could say that everything around me inspires me. One day I can get inspired by a building and another day I can be inspired by a color!

What materials do you most enjoy working with?
I like working with gemstones as they give me the opportunity to experiment with colors in my designs, but I really love working with metals as I can shape it any way I want.

What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
Snowflake Goddess Necklace

What inspired this design?
For this design I let the gemstones inspire me. I like the mysterious look of the snowflake obsidian and I gave it some freshness by adding the red coral.

What role does jewelry-making play in your life?
Jewelry-making is all I live for. I love the idea of making something special for somebody. There is a little bit of me in every piece of jewelry I make and every piece is as unique as the wearer.

If you used jewelry-making as a way to bring in income, how are you selling yourself and your jewelry?
At the moment I have a blogspot: http://jewelrybycr.blogspot.com where I showcase some of my work.

Any advice for aspiring jewelry-artists?
Just follow your dreams, because dreams do come true! Believe in yourself and never give up.
