Share Your Background

When and how did you begin making jewelry/beading?
Well I started in vacation Bible school I can remember the first ornament I made. It was a Santa. He had blue glass balls for eyes and one red one for a nose. Next project was a tree using small glass ornaments and pipe cleaners. I next started beading my mother's cloths and then ornaments.

Who introduced you to beading?
My friend of 30 years. She made jewelry and I asked her to teach me and she did. I in turn taught her how to bead ornaments.

Do you have an artistic background?
Self-taught.

How did you discover Fire Mountain Gems and BeadsĀ®?
My friend introduced me to your magazine and I have been a fan ever since.

What other hobbies do you have?
I make baby quilts with lace and, of course, beads. Stained glass dogs, mermaids which I added beads to. I add beads to cards and scrap booking projects. I really have not found anything that beads cannot spice up.

What role does jewelry-making play in your life?
It helps me relax and pushes me to use my imagination. It makes me feel like a kid when my idea comes to life.

I have a website on Etsy: TLC4Beads

Any advice for aspiring jewelry-artists?
Don't just stick to one method try different things even if it doesn't work the first 20 times just keep trying.
