Meet the Designer-Artist

Where do you live?
Baltimore, Maryland

Describe your artistic style.
No particular style, basically freeform.

What inspires you as a designer-artist?
Mostly everything I see. I get some type of vision to make a new piece of jewelry.

What materials do you most enjoy working with?
I love working with crystal, jumprings, watch faces and gold/silver bails.

What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
Indicolite's Delight and A Shimmer of Gold

What inspired this design?
I recently learned how to incorporate jumprings and crystals. I decided to create that design as a watch band.

How did it come together? For example, did you plan it out or did it define itself once you began working?
The design defined itself as I went along. I had to re-do it a couple of times until I was satisfied with the color coordinations.

Share Your Background

When and how did you begin making jewelry/beading?
I began making jewelry while taking accounting courses in college to relieve the stress of exams.

Who introduced you to beading?
The desire was my own.

Do you have an artistic background?
Yes. There are so many talents in my family (ie: jewelry-making, purse making, scrapbooking, poets, drawers and painters).

How did you discover Fire Mountain Gems and BeadsĀ®?
I ran across Fire Mountain Gems while searching the internet several years ago.

What other hobbies do you have?
Scrapbooking, embellishing wooden purses, crochet and knitting.

Beading Success

What role does jewelry-making play in your life?
Jewelry-making is quite a stress reliever. That is why I have baskets full.

If you used jewelry-making as a way to bring in income, how are you selling yourself and your jewelry?
I am currently in the process of creating a website. Additionally, while wearing jewelry, there are requests to make for others.

Any advice for aspiring jewelry-artists?
Reach for the stars and don't procrastinate. Follow you dreams.
